Common Questions about In-home Mental Health Therapy

Is this program really FREE?

Yep! Just like our nurse home-visiting program, this in-home therapy is completely free!  A generous grant from Moses Taylor Foundation has allowed us to provide this vital service free to moms in Wyoming County.

Who is eligible?

The program we use, Moving Beyond Depression, is designed to complement other home visiting programs such as Nurse-Family Partnership and Parents as Teachers.  There are not income limits.

Why do you come to my home?

For someone experiencing perinatal depression, making arrangements for a therapy appointment, finding childcare and transportation to that appointment can be overwhelming.  Bringing therapy into the home eliminates many of those challenges and Mom can feel safe and comfortable in her own home.

I'm not enrolled in one of these other programs.  Can I still get this in-home therapy?

Reach out to us and let's see what we can figure out.  We may be able to get you connected to our home visiting program or another one in the County so that you are eligible for this therapy.  We may also be able to connect you to other programs that we partner with to get services.  The important thing is that you find help if you need it.  We can do that!

Common Questions about Nurse Home-visiting

Is this program really FREE?

Yep! Because of grants and generous donations, our nurse home visiting program is absolutely free!

Who is eligible?

Women who are pregnant or recently gave birth and live in Wyoming or Sullivan County Pennsylvania.  There are modest income guidelines but those are also waived under certain circumstances.

Why do you come to my home?

Life can be hectic, especially as you prepare for a baby! We want our services to be easy and convenient.  We bring this great support right to you.  Sometimes, its not convenient to have someone visit your home. We understand.  If that's the case, there are places in the community we can meet and still give you the great information and support you deserve. â€‹â€‹

Can my baby's father also be involved?

That's up to you! Baby's Dad, family, even friends can be involved if you choose  They can learn how to best support you but as MOM, you're our main focus.

I've heard that this program is only for first-time moms. Is that true?

Whether a first-time Mom or an experienced Mom with children, everyone can use some extra support during this important time in their lives. All are welcome!

Why nurses?  Is this for high-risk pregnancies?

Healthy Family Partnership services are delivered by Registered Nurses because years of study shows that nurses are the most trusted professionals.  We want you to feel comfortable knowing the person you allow to share this experience is knowledgeable and trustworthy.  It is certainly very beneficial to have a nurse visiting if you have a high-rick pregnancy, but we are for any Mom who wants information and support during this important time.

I see an OB/GYN for prenatal care? How is this different?

We do not replace your regular prenatal care -- we enhance it!  You're doctor is still the lead in your care.  Our nurses encourage you to follow all doctors recommendations.  Where this differs is TIME.  With packed schedules, doctors sometimes have no more than a few minutes to devote to each patient visit.  With 45-60 minute visits, Healthy Family Partnership gives you the time to ask questions and get the answers you need.  Also, we take a holistic approach, caring for all of you...not just the pregnancy.

There is so much information available online, how is this better?

There certainly is a lot of information online.  As content creators strive for clicks and likes, much of the information shared is not accurate, and sometimes even dangerous.  In addition to the years of education and experience the Healthy Family Partnership Registered Nurses have, they are continually learning to stay on top of important developments in pregnancy, childbirth, child development, child safety, and so much more.  They can answer all your questions and dispel the myths around all these topics--helping you to make the best decision for you and your family.

I don't live in Wyoming or Sullivan County Pennsylvania.  Are there programs like this in other places?

Yes! We are a Nurse-Family Partnership site.  The program is located in many communities across Pennsylvania and the country.  CLICK HERE to go the the Nurse-Family Partnership page and find a program near you.

Still have questions?  Let's talk!  We'll answer all your questions about the program and, if you're ready, get you started!
